A route guidance map serves as a supplementary means for the mobility handicapped form whom it is difficult to move freely. The goal of the production is to present the optimal route information accessible to a destination to those who use a wheelchair, a baby carriage, supplementary devices for mobility etc. The current resulted product has established the route information of the Haeundae Beach area in Busan as its presentation range. Also, it is a kind of themed map it additionally has the function of a tourist map related to the elementary jurisdictional local county. The movement route fundamentally presupposes public transportations, and route search is considered for going to various tourist spots after arriving at a subway station or a public parking lot. Also, attention is paid to the expressional method that provides a basis for fast identification of the current location. All the routes for a destination as presented on the map consider the movement characteristics of the mobility handicapped. For this purpose, adequate marking are on the map based on the results of an investigation of ‘consecutiveness’ without footpath breakage and ‘accessibility’ without obstacles. As information visibility and distributional efficiency in map design are this study’s important priorities, it is oriented toward a universal design considering persons with low vision and color blinders in particular, economic production cost, and easiness in the edition of a new version.
