감각적 인터랙션 디자인을 기반으로 한 스마트 주얼리 개발

초록
현대 사회는 급속도로 발전하는 디지털 테크놀로지의 영향으로 정보기기와 디지털 기술이 문화를 주도해 가고 있다. 이러한 시대적 배경을 중심으로 하여 최근 가장 중요시 되고 있는 키워드는 단연 ‘스마트’ 이다. 사람들이 저마다의 방식으로 디지털 기술을 사용하는 이른바 ‘스마트 빅뱅’ 시대가 도래하였으며 이는 21세기 디자인의 새로운 패러다임이다. 이러한 스마트 디자인의 대부분은 사용자와의 상호작용을 근간으로 하는 인터랙션 디자인을 기저에 두고 있다. 문명의 발달과 더불어 삶의 질은 향상되었고 현대인들의 라이프 스타일에 많은 변화가 찾아왔으며 현대의 소비자들은 더 이상 수동적 입장이 아닌 능동적이고 적극적인 참여자의 입장으로 변모해가고 있다. 기기문명이 발달할수록 제품은 점점 인간중심적인 방향으로 진화한다. 이로 인해 디지털 감성이 등장하였으며 인간의 오감을 자극하여 감성을 불러일으키는 감각적 기술의 연구 및 디자인이 전 학문에 걸쳐 다양한 방식으로 나타나고 있다. 이를 배경으로 본 연구에서는 주얼리 디자인 과정에 인터랙션 디자인을 적용시킴으로서 시대적 추세에 맞추어 사용자의 감성을 자극하는 방식으로 사용자와 상호작용 할 수 있는 ‘스마트 주얼리’를 개발하고자 한다. ‘스마트 주얼리’는 주얼리의 장식적인 기능 외에 다양한 요소를 가지며 사용자의 감성을 자극하여 무형 또는 유형의 가치를 창출함으로써 상호작용을 유발하는 주얼리라 정의하였다. 주얼리에 인간의 오감 중에서 미각을 제외한 시각, 촉각, 후각, 청각을 자극할 수 있는 기능을 부여하고 그 것이 사용자의 어떠한 행위에 의해 반응하도록 하여 상호 소통하고자 하였다. 디자인 전개에 있어서는 ‘자연’이라는 대주제를 설정하고 ‘자연과 기술’ 이라는 소주제를 가지고 디자인을 전개하여 작품을 제작하였다. 작품의 제작에는 디자인에 따라서 CAD 프로그램과 왁스 모델링 작업을 병행하여 진행하였으며 정교한 마무리의 완성도를 높이기 위하여 수작업으로 마무리 하였다. 이러한 과정에서 몇 가지 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 우선 주얼리에 사용자의 편익을 높인 기능성을 추가함으로써 주얼리의 영역을 확장시키고자 하였으며 인터랙션 디자인을 조형적 측면으로 재해석하여 새로운 접근을 시도하는 과정에서 주얼리 디자인 분야의 잠재된 가능성을 제시 할 수 있었고 또한 무한한 발전가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Due to rapidly developing digital technology, information equipment and digital technology are leading the culture. Based on such a background of the times, the keyword which is currently thought to be most important is definitely 'smart'. A 'Smart Big Bang' era where everyone uses digital technology in their own way has appeared and it is a new paradigm of the 21st century design. Most of such smart design is based on interaction design which has its basis on interaction with users. The quality of life has been improved along with the development of civilization and many changes in the life style of the moderns are brought forth. The position of the modern consumers is changing to that of active and positive, not passive any more, participants. As machine civilization develops more, products evolve to be increasingly more human-centric. For such a reason, digital sensibility has appeared and study on and design based on sensible technology which brings about human sensibility by stimulating five senses are being introduced all over the fields of study in diverse ways. In this study, we intend to develop ‘smart jewelry’ which can interact with users in the way of stimulating sensibility of users keeping pace with the trend of the times by applying interaction design to the process of designing jewelry and ‘smart jewelry’ is defined as jewelry which has diverse functions in addition to the decorative function of jewelry and induces interaction by creating intangible or tangible values through stimulation of user sensibility. A function to stimulate sense of sight, sense of touch, sense of smell and hearing excluding sense of taste is given to jewelry and mutual communication is attempted by letting each of such senses to react to a certain action of users. A concept of ‘nature’ was established, and the design was created and the work was produced with two subjects, ‘nature and artificiality’ and ‘nature and technology’. Production of the work was carried out using a CAD program and wax model in parallel and finished manually in order to enhance the degree of completion. In such process, several conclusions could be made. First of all, jewelry was attempted to be expanded by adding functionality of which the usability is enhanced. Potentiality of jewelry design field could be presented in the course of attempting a new approach by re-interpreting interaction design in formative aspect and infinite potential for development could be identified. Also, we hope studies on jewelry may continue to be carried out based on the findings of this study, though insufficient.
