Genre-based Discourse Analysis on Recipe Text
박나리(서울시립대학교)
33권, 323~358쪽
초록
Recipe text is one of the representative instruction text genres and is mainly composed of title discourse, ingredients discourse, process discourse and tip discourse. These main discourses are distinguished mutually by means of its unique discourse characteristics which are called genre-based features. These outstanding genre-based distinctions between discourses are caused by coherence of the text structure. It might be seen that in recipe text, mechanism of contrast is adapted as a main way of its text construction. Conceptualization by means of nominalization in title discourse is contrasted to a series of performative action verbs in process discourse. A variety of modality expressions in tip discourse are contrasted to ‘-nunda’ with neutral modality in process discourse. Also, text producer's strong consciousness of text receivers with ‘-seyo’ in tip discourse is contrasted to ‘-nunda’with weak consciousness in process discourse. This contrast is seen as a text producer's attempts to establish a coherent construction as a text in a relatively simple recipe text genre.
