중학교 사회과 교과서 학습 제재 간 의미 연결망 구조 분석 -법 단원과 사회ㆍ문화 단원의 비교-

본 연구는 사회과의 법교육 영역이 다른 영역에 비하여 학습량이 많고 난이도가 높다는 일반적 인식을 가지고, 이런 문제가 사회과 교과서 법 단원의 기술 방식이 한 문단 내에 상위-하위 학습 제재가 연이어 등장하기 때문에 발생하는 게 아닌가 하는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 이것을 실증적으로 밝히기 위해 교과서에 제시된 법 단원과 사회문화 단원의 학습 제재 간 의미 연결망 구조 분석을 하였다. 분석의 결과, 법단원의 학습 제재는 사회문화 단원의 학습 제재보다 연결선이 많고 연결 정도도 긴밀하며 군집이 많음을 발견하였다. 이는 법단원의 기술 방식이 사회문화 단원과 달리, 하나의 제재를 설명하기 위하여 설명이 필요한 또 다른 하위 제재를 동원함으로써, 결과적으로 학습량 과다와 높은 난이도 문제를 야기하는 경향이 있음을 말해주고 있다. 따라서 사회과 법교육 영역의 학습량 과다와 높은 난이도 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 법 단원의 서술 방식이 ‘학습 제재1 제시→설명(학습 제재2 포함)→학습 제재2 제시→설명’에서, ‘학습 제재 제시→설명’으로 곧바로 들어가도록 노력해야 한다. 또한 그렇게 하려면 관련 학문인 법학의 특성을 고려하여 교과서에 제시되는 학습 제재의 수를 과감하게 줄이고, 각 내용을 충분히 설명할 수 있는 사례와 자료가 제시되어야 한다.
Abstract
This paper assumed that law studies has been amount of the contents and difficulty than any other social studies areas. This is because high-level concepts and lower-level concepts of law chapters in the textbooks described successively. The purpose of this study is to verify the semantic network analysis on the contents of Law chapters and Society․Culture chapters in the Middle school textbooks. We examined 22 contents in Law chapters and 11 contents in Society․Culture chapters from 3 kinds of middle school textbooks for the first grade(Kumsung, kyohak, and Visang publishing company). Chapter7-(2) and 9-(1) in a Kumsung textbook was made complete network. In order to investigate connections between two different chapters, we made complete network. Based on the complete network, Netminer 4 was used to analyze degree centrality of the contents between Law chapters and Society․Culture chapters. These are the three main questions of this survey. 1) There will be more connection lines of high-level concepts in Law chapters than Society․Culture chapters. 2) Connection lines in Law chapters will be thicker than Society․Culture chapters. 3) There will be the more number of clusters in Law chapters than Society․Culture chapters. The results are as follows:1) Compared to Society․Culture chapters, more connection lines of high-level concepts, thicker connection lines and the more number of clusters in Law chapters is demonstrated. 2) There is more same level concepts in Law chapters than Society․Culture chapters. Concepts of Law chapters in the textbooks described successively have resulted in this study. That is, Law chapters have more high-level, the same level, and the lower-level concepts. In conclusion, for more enjoyable learn of social studies for teachers and students, contents of Law chapters should be reduced. Also, specific examples should be added enough when it comes to Law chapters.
