디자인-공학 글로벌 협업 교육 사례 연구

This research is the analysis result of the education process, ‘Global Design-Engineering Collaborative Product Development’, which was collaborated for the last 4 years (2008 – 2011) by mechanical engineering majors of RWTH-Aachen University, and industrial design and mechanical system design majors. The students from different nationalities, majors, and cultural backgrounds, working together for 16 weeks on the actual product development program, recorded what they personally experienced, and compared and analyzed the executive cases from the collaborating process. In design and engineering, the trial-and-error process is essential. Only when the knowledge, experiences, theories, and practices are inter-complementary, then the resulting academic depth and achievements can be extraordinary. And only with knowledge and abilities that are helpful for each other can they perceive each other's professionalism and have much deeper insights. In collaboration, process is just as important as the final results are. The trial-and-errors can become crucial method in making the practical guidelines in favor of the right outcomes. Global collaboration, in particular, begins with understanding the diversities in creativity, and accepting the racial and cultural discrepancies. In order to do so, the network for operational collaboration should be ready first, prior to the education. Based on this network can the academic and educational experience be shared, and executive education model can be forged by analyzing its achievements. The results from this research will be used as a collection of case data of inter-national and –academic collaborative education, now that the fusion and the collaboration of various fields are necessary for sustainable development.
