지속가능경영이 장단기 경영성과에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 지속가능경영 도입기업과 미도입기업을 대상으로 지속가능경영 도입여부가 단기수익성, 단기성장성, 장기기업가치에 정의 영향을 미치는지를 검정하는 것이다. 연구결과, 첫째, 지속가능경영은 단기수익성을 나타내는 자기자본이익률과 총자산이익률에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지속가능경영은 단기성장성을 의미하는 총자산증가율에 정의 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로, 지속가능경영은 장기기업가치를 나타내는 토빈 큐에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 시사점은 첫째, 지속가능경영 도입을 통해서 주주, 고객, 종업원, 지역사회 등과 같은 이해관계자와 지속적이고 생산적인 관계를 구축하게 되므로 기업의 단기수익성이 향상된다. 둘째, 지속가능경영은 매출액을 급격히 증가시키지는 못하지만, 기업의 브랜드이미지 제고, 협력적 노사문화 등을 통해서 기업에 장기적으로 안정적인 수익성을 가져다주며, 한편으로는 지속가능경영을 통해 차별화역량인 제품차별력, 운영효율성, 고객밀착력이 향상되고, 이는 보다 많은 투자의 기회를 제공하여, 총자산이 증가하게 된다. 셋째, 지속가능경영은 연구개발 투자확대, 기업지배구조 개선, 직원복지 향상, 협력사와 상생추구 등을 통해서 기업의 브랜드이미지를 향상시킨다. 이 경우 무형자산의 가치가 높아지고, 이를 통해 기업의 시장가치가 자산의 대체원가보다 높게 나타남으로써, 토빈 큐가 높아지게 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine (Ⅰ) effects of Sustainability Management (Sustainability Report publishing) on short-term profitability ratios (Return on Equity, Return on Assets), (Ⅱ) effects of Sustainability Management on short-term growth ratios(sales growth ratio, total asset growth ratio), (Ⅲ) effects of Sustainability Management on long-term firm value (Tobin’s Q). The Samples were 86 manufacturing companies. Of the samples, 43 companies published Sustainability Report and 43 did not. The findings of this study are：First, Sustainability Management affects Return on Equity, Return on Assets, approving hypothesis Ⅰ. Second, Sustainability Management do not impact sales growth ratio but impact total asset growth ratio, partially supporting hypothesis Ⅱ. Third, Sustainability Management affects Tobin’s Q, supporting hypothesis Ⅲ. The findings of this study suggest that：First, Sustainability Management improves short-term profitability, through the lasting and productive relationship between Firm and Stakeholder. Second, Sustainability Management improves total asset growth ratio, through high profitability and easy financing. Third, Sustainability Management improves Tobin’s Q, through R&D investment, corporate governance improvement, employee welfare, win-win partnership, and intangible assets growth.
