e-멘토링 연구 현황 및 향후 연구 방향에 대한 이론적 고찰

E-mentoring has been recognized as a useful developmental tool in organizational and academic settings. Despite the increase in research on its benefits, there have been few attempts to integrate the work on e-mentoring. In this paper, we reviewed 83 articles published in Korean and overseas journals to provide an overview and discussion of the current e-mentoring literature and then to present new directions for future research in this area. As a result, we have found that the previous research on e-mentoring can be categorized into several topics such as the concepts of e-mentoring, the pros and cons, and the antecedents and the consequences of e-mentoring functions. Filling in the gap in the previous research, we suggest a new typology of e-mentoring according to two dimensions: formality of the relationship and dependency on information technology. In addition, this paper concludes by presenting new directions for future research, based on the theories of social capital, ethic, and human resource development, such as the differential effects of the various types of e-mentoring, the relationship between e-mentoring and social capital, and the e-mentoring and ethics.
