Nowadays, consumers’ interest in the wedding flower market has been constantly increasing due to economic growth and industry development. Therefore, bouquet designs are considerably more important than anything else in the wedding flower market. However, it is the fact that there is still not enough academic research on bouquet designs. This study intends to set up a clear concept of wedding flowers and to grasp flow of rapidly changing wedding bouquet trend in order to help flower designers in their self-development and research. In order to grasp a change in trend of wedding bouquet along with a change in domestic wedding style based on the theoretical review of wedding flower, this thesis selected a monthly wedding magazine “My Wedding” and conducted a frequency analysis per element and a photo analysis per year based on the bouquet works in 17 years between 1993 and 2010. According to the result of the research, it was possible to discover the changes in types, materials, techniques and colors of bouquet designs. The different styles of bouquet showed the quickest change according to trends. The form of round (45.9%) and cascade (12.6%) wedding bouquets were popular for 17 years. In terms of the material components, people mostly used bouquets with flowers and plants (63.6%) or flowers (22.9%). In addition, people tended to use roses (44.4%) or lilies (8.7%) for flowers, and they used ivy (19.5%) or brackens (10.4%) for plants. When they were making bouquets, they mostly used 2-3 species (42.3%) of flowers or plants or 4-5 species (36.4%) of flowers or plants. The results of the study also show that the materials for wedding bouquets varied due to the development of the distribution industry and the globalization compared to the past when materials were limited, and thus, the use of different kinds of flowers has increased. The most commonly used colors in wedding bouquets were white (41.9%) and pink (20.5%). According to the color analysis results, consumers preferred to use either similar colors (58.7%) or the same colors (28.1%) in wedding bouquets. White color has been used for a long time because it has strong symbolism and a conservative image in Korea. In addition, the use of pastel tone bouquets has been gradually increasing since the start of the twenty-first century. The techniques of making wedding bouquets included a holder type (42.6%) and a hand-tied type (33.3%) for the past 17 years. While wire technique which required mastery of skills and a lot of time was used in the past, the more practical holder style which allows us to save time has become gradually more popular. Also, the use of the hand-tied style has increased, which uses intact natural stems according to the rise of naturalism these days.
