사회적 기업가정신 실천과정에 관한 연구

초록
최근 사회적 기업에 대한 증가되는 관심과 함께 ‘사회적 기업가정신’이 주목받고 있다. 사회적 기업가정신은 사회적 기업의 핵심 성공요인으로 손꼽히고 있으며, 사회적 기업 활성화에 실질적 토대가 되는 중요한 연구 주제이다. 이에 본 연구는 사회적 기업가정신의 의미가 무엇이며 현실에서 어떠한 과정과 모습으로 실천되는지를 심층적으로 이해하고자 질적연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 사회적 기업을 운영하고 있는 4명의 연구참여자를 선정하여 심층면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 사회적 기업가정신은 사회적 기업가가 사회적 문제를 발견하고 창조적 아이디어를 바탕으로 사회적 문제를 기회로 연결하며, 삶의 목표를 실현하기 위해 사회적 기업을 설립하고 사회적 공감을 통해 사회적 가치를 창출하는 ‘일련의 과정’이자, 사회적 가치에 기반을 둔 ‘실천적 행동’임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 사회적 기업가정신의 다양성과 동태적 특성을 경험적 연구를 통해 밝혀내었으며, 또한 사회적 문제를 해결하는 대안적 기제로서 사회적 기업가정신을 탐색하고자 하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Ever since social enterprise has been introduced in Korean society, our attention has been drawn to social entrepreneurship which is considered to be a critical success factor for a social enterprise. In order to understand the meaning of social entrepreneurship and how it has been practiced in Korea, the study employed a qualitative method focusing on social entrepreneurs' experiences. Four social entrepeneurs were selected as the research participants and in-depth interviews were conducted. The research participants shared their stories of how they started and operated their businesses and gave full description of the contextual factors. The research findings showed that social entrepreneurship was a practical action based on social value and a process which involved the following components: 1) discovering social problems; 2) turning the problems into opportunities with the creative ideas for solutions; 3) launching a social enterprise based on the effort to find the meaning of life; and 4) creating new values through generating social consensus. The study suggests that social entrepreneurship can be one of the alternative solutions for social problems so that it is important to recognize its dynamics and the contextual factors influencing social entrepreneurship.
