프랑스 이민자통합의 실패 원인:프랑스사회 책임 혹은 이민자 책임

This article seeks to identify who should be more to blame, French society or Muslim immigrants, for causing the failure of Muslim integration in France. According to opinion polls, most French people see Muslim immigrant integration into France as a failure and most believe the fault lies with the immigrants who have not made enough of an effort to adapt to French society, and who also have threatened French Republican principles such as “la Laïcité”(the separation of church and state). However, this article insists the French opinion of blaming immigrants for the integration failure is not justified. On the contrary, French society should be more to blame for the integration failure when we consider several factors such as social discrimination against immigrants, fundamental problems of the French Republican immigration model and ‘the second-and third generation ’ French Muslims who have relatively assimilated well into French society. In order for the successful integration of the Muslim immigrant population into French society,France as a necessity must strive to eliminate racism, discrimination and socio-economic inequality.
