초도감사의 감사시간과 감사품질

본 연구는 감사인이 감사시간을 투입함에 따라 감사품질(재무제표의 질)이 높아지는지를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 감사에서 투입요소를 감사시간으로 산출물을 감사품질재무제표의 질)로 보고 감사품질(재무제표의 질)의 대용치인 재량적 발생액을 사용하여 감사시간과 감사품질(재무제표의 질)의 관계를 조사하였다. 또한 초도감사의 경우 감사인이 회사와 회사가 속한 산업에 대한 지식이 부족하기 때문에 더 많은 투입시간이 필요하지만 감사보수가 할인될 경우 과연 적절한 수준의 감사시간을 투입하는지에 대해서도 분석하였다. 분석결과 감사시간과 재량적 발생액은 유의하게 음(-)의 관계가 있었다. 이는 감사인이 시간을 더 많이 투입할수록 감사품질(재무제표의 질)이 높아진다는 것을 의미한다. 초도감사의 경우에도 감사인이 시간을 투입하면 감사품질(재무제표의 질)은 증가하였다. 그러나 투입(감사시간)에 비하여 산출(감사품질 또는 재무제표의 질)의 성과(효율)는 계속감사보다 높았다. 또한 초도감사에서 평균적으로 감사보수는 할인된다는 것이 관찰되었다. 이는 초도감사에서 보수를 원가이하로 할인하며, 이를 만회하기 위하여 감사시간을 줄일 때 나타날 수 있는 현상과 일치한다.
Abstract
Using 3,162 sample years from 2002 to 2007, We examine whether audit service can improve audit quality (or quality of financial statements). Specially, we examine the relations between audit hours and audit quality (or quality of financial statements). And also we examine whether auditors reduce audit hour in the initial audit. In the audit service, it is assumed that audit service can improve quality of financial statements. But there is little evidence that audit service is effective. If audit service is effective, audit quality (or quality of financial statements) has positive relations with audit hours. We find that audit quality (or quality of financial statements) has positive relation with audit hours. In addition, we find that the efficiency of audit hour in initial audit is higher than that in consecutive audit. These results imply that audit service is effective and auditors reduce audit hour in the initial audit.
