DEA 모형을 이용한 프랜차이즈 기업의 상대적 효율성분석

본 연구는 국내 프랜차이즈 산업이 활성화 되면서 프랜차이즈 산업 발전이 국가 경제에 미치는 영향이 매우 크며, 프랜차이즈 기업들의 경쟁력 강화를 위해서는 정확한 효율성 분석이 필요하다는 판단 하에, DEA 모형을 이용하여 우리나라 프랜차이즈 산업의 가맹 업종별 상대적 효율성을 분석하였다. 효율성 분석을 위해서 DEA 모형 중 CCR 모형과 BCC 모형을 사용하였으며 2,298개의 프랜차이즈 기업(가맹본부) 중에서 패스트푸드(27개), 주류(25개), 기타 외식(252개), 제과제빵(18개), 기타 도소매(40개), 교육서비스(84개), 이미용(23개), 기타 서비스(28개)의 8개 업종을 최종 대상으로 최적의 효율적으로 운영하는 프랜차이즈 기업 브랜드와 CCR 모형과 BCC 모형을 이용한 규모 효율성, CRS, DRS, IRS의 브랜드, 외부의 벤치마킹 참조 빈도 등을 분석하였다. DEA 분석을 위해 EnPAS 1.0와 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 3개의 투입 요소(직원수, 점포수, 광고비)와 2개의 산출요소(매출액, 당기순이익)를 투입하였으며, 분석 결과는 첫째, 패스트푸드(4개), 주류(7개), 기타 외식(9개), 제과제빵(2개), 기타 도소매(7개), 교육서비스(7개), 이미용(7개), 기타 서비스(5개)의 업체가 효율성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, CCR 모형의 전체기술효력(TE), BCC 모형의 순수기술효율(PTE)과 규모의 효율성(SE)의 분석에서 전반적으로 해당업체의 비효율의 원인이 규모의 문제에 의한 비효율보다는 기술적인 요인에 의한 비효율이 매우 크다는 것을 발견하였다. 셋째, CCR 모형과 BCC 모형을 이용한 규모 효율성에서 전체기술효력(TE), 순수기술효율(PTE), 규모의 효율성(SE)의 비효율이 존재하므로 비효율의 개선된 만큼 수익증가 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 프랜차이즈 기업의 규모수익불변(CRS), 규모수익체감(DRS), 규모수익체증(IRS)에서 규모수익체감(DRS)인 업체는 운영상의 효율성 향상 방안 수립을 통한 효율성 제고 방안으로 투입요소 증가에 대한 산출물의 증가비율이 훨씬 작으므로 투입요소의 감소 노력이 비효율성을 개선하는 방안이 될 수 있다는 점과 규모수익체증(IRS)인 업체는 투입요소 증가에 대한 산출물의 증가비율이 더 크므로 산출물의 증가에 노력하는 것이 전체기술효율(CCR)을 높일 수 있으므로, 규모의 비효율성을 개선하는 방안이 될 수 있다. 끝으로 투입 및 산출의 조합에 있어서 비효율적인 기관들이 벤치마킹의 대상으로 삼아야 할 업체로는 패스트푸드(7개), 주류(8개), 기타 외식(14개), 제과제빵(3개), 도소매(11개), 교육서비스(14개), 이미용(9개), 기타 서비스(10개) 업체임을 파악하였다. 본 연구는 DEA를 이용하여 우리나라 프랜차이즈 기업들의 상대적 효율성을 분석하였으며, 각 기업의 투입요소를 기준으로 비효율적인 요인을 규모와 기술에 따라 구분하여 제시하였다. 또한 가장 효율적으로 운영되는 기업들을 파악하고, 규모대비 수익이 떨어지는 기업들에 대한 원인을 분석하여 제시하였다.
Abstract
Local franchise industry that was active had great influence upon national economy. This study investigated efficiency of each franchise business to strengthen competitiveness of franchise companies by using DEA model. Not only CCR but also BCC of DEA model was used to investigate eight kinds of businesses of 2,298 franchisers. for instance, fast food (27), liquor (25), outeating (252), bakery and confectionery (18), miscellaneous wholesale and retail business (40), educational service (84), barber shop and beauty salon (23) and other services (28), and to examine efficiency of scale, CRS, DRS, IRS brand and frequency of external benchmarking reference by using the most efficient franchise business brand, CCR model and BCC model. Not only EnPAS 1.0 but also SPSS 18.0 program was used: And, not only three input factors such as number of employees, number of stores and advertising expenses but also two output factors such as sales and net profit during the term were used. The findings were: First, fast food (4), liquor (7), outeating (9), bakery and confectionery (7), educational services (7), barber shop and beauty salon (7) and other services (5) were found to do business efficiently. Second, CCR model's total technical effect, BBC model's pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency were found to be ineffective not by scale but by technical reason. Third, the scale efficiency of both CCR model and BCC model was not efficient at total technical effect, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency to be likely to increase profit as much as inefficiency was improved. Fourth, franchisers with DRS could improve operational efficiency: The franchisers should lessen input factors considering much smaller output increase, and the ones with IRS should increase output to elevate CCR and to improve inefficiency of the scale. Organizations with ineffective combination between input and output should follow bench marking of fast food (7), liquor (8), miscellaneous outeating (14), bakery and confectionery (3), wholesale business and retail business (11), educational services (14), barber shop and beauty salons (9) and other services (10). This study investigated relative efficiency of local franchise companies to give ineffective input factors by scale and technology. The study found out the most effectively operating franchise companies to investigate the ones having low profit.
