However, users should not be liable for infringement of the reproduction right if the use is for a private use. Its purpose is for private use for individuals to watch television programs with the Slingbox at a remote location. Also, viewing legally paid-content via numerous screens is a private use as well. Furthermore, when it comes to fair use, the Slingbox is a noncommercial use and its actual or potential harm is not proven, which means it does not violate fair use practices. Likewise, since N-Screen services help users to have easy and convenient access to content through multiple devices, the use of them is a legitimate fair use. In conclusion, the Slingbox and N-Screen services does not create any copyright violation. A potential solution is the use of statutory licenses for them to reduce the strained relationship between technological advancements and copyright laws.
