도시디자인 정책 사례분석을 통해 본 도시경쟁력에 관한 연구- 서울, 베를린, 런던의 도시디자인 기본계획 사례를 중심으로 -

(Background and Purpose)The background of this study is the concept that urban design policy builds the image and brand of a city and that it eventually adds to urban competitiveness. Also citizen-centered policies have become the primary concern of urban competitiveness now. The purpose of this study is, in terms of city marketing and city branding, to examine the“Development of Berlin’s Creative Economy and Potential”and“The London Plan”to interpret their relationship with urban competitiveness vis-à-vis the“2030 Seoul Plan”the master plan for urban design policies in Seoul. (Method)The methods of this study are theoretical consideration along with a pilot survey, secondary research, and domestic and overseas case studies. Through theoretical consideration, the study analyses perspectives and changes in urban competitiveness. Thereafter, the commonality and specialty of each city is examined using case studies on the city’s competitiveness. (Result)This study shows that there is a close relationship between the urban design master plan and the strengthening of urban competitiveness, and that holistic urban design policy development, with a multi-dimensional approach, is needed. For a better city life, urban design should be accorded high priority in each phase of policy decision, practice, and evaluation.
