법률번역에 있어서 전문용어의 번역에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is, firstly to make a diagnosis for the translation techniques of legal translation suggested by Sarcevic(1997), Varó & Hughes (2002), and Januleviciene & Rackeviciene(2001) based on the theory of the translation of legal terminology, secondly to apply all the translation techniques possible to the translation of legal terminology in the case study of General Provisions of Korean Civil Act and their English version, thirdly to demonstrate whether the translation techniques sufficiently function for the translation of legal terminology. The techniques for the translation of legal terminology in this article can be applied, in collaboration or cooperation, according to various translation environments such as Skopos, the characteristics of source language and target language, language typology and legal system, etc. They can be used not only as a guideline in the translation process but also an analysis tool for the translation result. Therefore, these translation techniques will be an effective analysis tool for the process and the result of the translation of legal terminology.
