한국장로교에서 사회복지론과 디아코니아 신학 -교회의 사회적 책임을 위한 신학과 실천의 근거로서-

This article is a study concerning ‘Social Welfare’ and ‘Diakonia Theology’ as a theological, practical foundation for the social responsibility of the church in the context of Korean Presbyterian Church. The discussions of social responsibility and praxis in the context of Korean Presbyterian Church has been developed on the basis of ‘Lausanne Covernant’ of the conservative evangelical church on the one hand, and of ‘Minjung Theology’ of the progressive ecumenical church on the other hand. But the Korean Presbyterian Church has experienced the needs for social services, which was demanded through the self-reflection to church growth, and at the same time, it has lived up the contextual need of Korean society facing rapid transition into the welfare state, which enhanced it to derive the theoretical ground for ecclesial Diakonia from the social welfare theory. But social welfare theory has a secular origin rather than ecclecial concept, so that it mainly based on the methodology of social science, intends to accomplish the public policy of the state ultimately for the goal of enhancing humane welfare. On the contrary, Diakonia is a praxis of being neighborhood and a social action performed by the church on the ground of Christian faith and evangelical motifs. Therefore, ‘Diakonia’ and ‘Social Welfare’ need to be distinguished in a strict sense, because both of them in their motifs and goals, start from the different premises. The social welfare theory is not based on ‘Christos Diakonos’ as its theological ground for a praxis of neighborhood, and it doesn't emphasize the ecclesiological identity of diakonia either. Therefore, for the social responsibility and praxis of the Korean Church, we need to start from the biblical basis for the Diakonia and to rediscover the Diakonic foundation which has been kept in the tradition and heritage of presbyterian, reformed church, and we also need to conduct our assignment through the formulation of Diakonia Theology.
