복합시설형 카지노 편익에 대한 인식이 개발 태도에 미치는 영향

초록
본 연구는 복합 카지노 리조트 개발의 필요성과 방향에 대한 시사점을 얻기 위해 세계 각국 카지노들의 형태를분류하고 특징을 살펴본 후, 전문가들을 대상으로 복합 카지노 리조트로 인해 발생할 수 있는 효과들과 개발 필요성에 대한 태도 간의 관계를 조사하였다. 그리고 실증분석을 통하여 나타난 결과를 바탕으로 복합 카지노 리조트개발에 앞서 고려해야할 개발 편익들을 제안하고 성공적인 복합 카지노 리조트 개발에 대한 시사점을 제공하였다. 설문은 여행사, 카지노, 호텔/리조트, 학계 등 관광부문 전문가 약 200명을 대상으로 실시하였는데, 분석결과 경제적 효과, 기능적 효과, 사회문화적 효과 모두 개발에 대한 태도에 유의한 (+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 영향력의 크기는 사회문화적 효과와 기능적 효과가 비슷하게 나타난 반면, 경제적 효과는 상대적으로 낮은 수치를 보였다. 본 연구에서 가장 중요한 결과는 복합시설형 카지노 개발에 대해 가장 큰 영향력을 주는 것이 경제적 측면보다는 사회문화적 효과라는 전문가들의 인식으로 관광자원으로서 복합시설형 카지노 개발 시 직접적으로 나타나는경제적 측면 뿐 만 아니라 사회문화적 측면의 효과도 극대화 될 수 있는 방안을 고려할 필요가 있다. 이 외에도 한국형 카지노의 청사진 마련과 지속가능한 관광개발을 위한 카지노 정책에 대한 시사점들을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to provide implications for necessity and direction of integrated casino facilitydevelopment. To identify the relationship between potential benefits of developing the integrated casino facility andits necessity, we classified the world famous casinos into several categories along with their features and analyzedabout 200 survey responses from tourism practitioners and experts. Results showed that attitude towards casinodevelopment was significantly influenced by all of three effects - economic, functional and socio-cultural. The majorfinding of this research is that the largest effect on attitude did not result from economic but socio-cultural benefit. Thus we argued that maximizing the socio-cultural benefit is as important as other factors when it comes to casinodevelopment as a tourism attraction. Additional implications and results are discussed for Korean-style casinoblueprint and sustainable tourism development.
