중등학교 헌법교육의 위상과 방향에 관한 고찰

This article is to consider why constitutional education is necessary and how it should be carried out. Constitutional education has been recognized as one or a part of constitution, civil law and criminal law education. However, constitutional education needs to be considered from a level of development of a national community through training of democratic citizens and social integration. That is, training of independent citizens represented by the constitution is a primary goal, which reasonably has the same meaning as the goal of social studies, the training of democratic citizens. In addition, protecting the constitution through sharing and the practice of constitutional values enables social integration through constitutional solidarity, which ultimately realizes individual happiness and contributes to the development of national community. The content of constitutional education should focus on its history, principles and values, guarantee of human rights, democratic republic and governing structure. This content should be studied from the perspective of sharing constitutional values, and not remain only at a knowledge level. In addition, constitutional education should end in a will to support a constitution, and a commitment to maintain it as part of practical life. This is exactly the same meaning as constitutional man = independent man=development of a democratic citizen in a national community context.
