베이비부머 세대들의 삶을 통해 본 일과 은퇴의 경험적 의미에 대한 연구

본 연구는 생애사적 관점을 바탕으로 심층면담 방법을 적용한 질적 연구로서 베이비부머 세대들의 삶의 과정에서 드러난 일과 은퇴에 대한 당사자의 경험적 의미를 재해석하고 풀어내는 데 목적을 두었다. 주요 분석 결과를 보면, 먼저 일과 은퇴를 둘러싼 경험의 주제 영역은 ‘일에 대한 경험’, ‘베이비부머 세대에 대한 자기인식’, ‘은퇴를 바라보는 관점’으로 나타났다. 먼저 베이비부머 세대 일에 대한 경험은 ‘사회인의 세계로 들어가면서 직장인으로 버티었고, 사회경제적 변화의 소용돌이 속에서 바닥을 치고 다시 일어서는 과정을 통해 호구지책 수단이 아닌 보람 있는 나의 일을 찾게 되는 것’으로 드러났다. 또한 베이비부머 세대에 대한 당사자의 자기인식을 살펴보면 ‘제 앞가림을 해야 하는 낀 세대’로 이해되고 있었다. 은퇴의 경험적 의미는 끝이 아닌 또 다른 내 삶의 연속으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과로부터 파생될 수 있는 함의는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 분석 결과는 세대 간 노동(일) 가치관 비교의 근거로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 두 번째, 베이비부머 세대들의 은퇴 이후 사회적 활동을 사회적 경제 조직들과 연결시킬 수 있는 방법을 모색할 필요가 있음을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 베이비부머 세대 사회적 자본의 경제적 효과와 특징에 대한 후속연구의 고려이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to obtain specific understanding about the meaning of work and retirement among the baby boomer in Korea. With this purpose, I took main research question as follows : “what do they experience and how do they evaluate it?” Eight interviewee participated in this research. I operated in-depth interviews with them and used a qualitative research method. The results of data analysis are as follows. There are 3 categories : ‘The essential experience of work’, ‘Self-insight of baby boomer’, ‘perspective of retirement’. In conclusion, clear messages emerged from our research are that there are needs for down-to-earth subsidy provides adequate self-development opportunities to the baby boomer in desperate need. The government should take account of expanding labor market, such as social service and/or social enterprise related jobs. Also, they should consider them as major human resource, not simply as retired one. Finally, it is suggested that government must build more efficient and systematic support programs for the social participation of retirees, as well as a unified support policies channel.
