일본 디자인교육의 맥락 - 고이케 신지(小池 新二)의 디자인활동을 중심으로 -

This paper considered the context of design education that Shinji Koike attempted to realize through his accumulated experiences and philosophy during the process of being cultivated as a design leader and as an educator. This was because this was believed to be a channel through which the paper would be able to look into what the implications and nature of design education in Japan are, and the image of design education which we will have to create in the future, and what lesson we can learn. The details may be summarized as follows. Based on consistent research into and extensive knowledge about the Modern Movement which had emerged in the Europe, Shinji Koike came to practice his firm belief regarding what the nature of design is in the field of design education. That goal was to realize design culture which he had thought to be ideal through a broad spectrum of learning and practices through an ability to understand human cultures and scientific thinking. Also the context of design education which he attempted to realize may be an understanding of its overview by creating design to be scientific and comprehensive. Also he would have been deemed to create as comprehensive studies a new paragon of design through continuous practices since he started his career in design education. That is because just as culture is formed by the condensation and implication of the past, the present, and the future, he identified design as a living thing which is created by such a condensation of history. Also on the foundation of this philosophy, there was his humanistic thought that what is created by humans should not be harmful to humans.
