The Effects of Travel Agency Managers’ Leadership Styles on Employees' Psychological Empowerment and Job Satisfaction

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of travel agency managers’ leadership styles on employee'spsychological empowerment and job satisfaction. For empirical research, we have individually visited domestic travelagencies and collected the questionnaires for one month. After deleting incomplete questionnaires, final 808 responses were analyzed for the structural equation modelingusing the statistical package of SPSS 17 and AMOS 18. The results show that managers’ transformational and transactional leadership have an influence on thepsychological empowerment of employees. And servant leadership of managers and employees’ job satisfaction werepositively related. The last finding was that the psychological empowerment has an impact on employees' jobsatisfaction. Thus, the leadership style has direct impacts on both the psychological empowerment and jobsatisfaction. Moreover, this study suggests that managers’ leadership style in the hospitality industry has direct effectson employees’ desire to work, competitiveness reinforcement, and business performance. Therefore, managers haveto conduct the strategic and effective leadership to employees in order to enhance employees' job satisfaction,resulting in higher chances of success in their business.
