Clothes are the outcome of the times and reflect aesthetic standards and inclinations of the times. It can be indirectly considered as a culture expressing universal emotion and ideology of the times. Fashion in the modern times is the formative expression of the desire which is deeply embedded in human beings. As the desire to show off the sensual attraction of women is increasing, modern fashion is being expressed with selective exposure, hiding and emphasis of a certain body part. Recently, body form itself is exposed through transparent material. See-through style which has been popular continuously as an important element to show sensual attraction of women has been developed as a method to express internal beauty of humans. This study tried to understand the concept of see-through which has been diversely expressed in modern fashion, reviewed changes of see-through style through previous studies and references, and empirically analyzed see-through style shown from S/S in 2000 to F/W in 2013 by classifying them according to material, color, pattern, item, silhouette, expression techniques and details. Additionally, by presenting see-through style applied works based on the study on aesthetic characteristics of see-through, we tried to understand see-through fashion properly and show the right vision for see-through fashion. See-through in modern fashion is a new way to express sexual desire hidden deep down in human mind and we may be able to develop diversified designs through new vision of see-through clothes.
