학습자 유형에 따른 디자인 문제해결 특징 연구-그래픽 디자인을 중심으로-

The purpose of this study is to examine whether there are characteristics for types of design results based on learning styles when individuals understand and process information. Thus, first, it investigated learning styles of design majors by using Learning Style Inventory (LSI) of Kolb. Second, it classified strengths and characteristics of design results for each learning style, and analyzed characteristics for each type. As a result of the analysis, it turned out that, for the learning styles of design majors, the number of the Diverging style was the highest, and that of the Converging style was the lowest. Although it could be expected that the Diverging style students that are sensitive and humanistic would account for a majority of the design majors, they obtained generally low scores on the design expert assessment area. Interestingly, design works of the Assimilating group that has merits of abstract conceptualization, accurateness, and logicality obtained high scores on the aspects of esthetics and the degree of completion. Considering that the graphic design is a process to rearrange accepted information beautifully, it is thought that the criteria and abilities to accept and interpret information based on learning styles would vary with individuals, and their design abilities would be different from one another. It is needed to drive up design abilities of leaners to the maximum level by thoroughly understanding the learning styles.
