다문화사회에서 이주민에 대한 헌법교육의 필요성과 방향성

This study is to consider necessities of constitutional education for migrants as an approach for social integration in a multicultural society and systematize the direction and specific contents of constitutional education. Considering that the members of a community spontaneously and democratically give way to social integration through an agreement, we should have great interest in constitutional education in order to perform these functions in a multicultural society. That is, constitutional education is a step forward for the goal of fostering civil democracy and of integrating all parts of society into one. Therefore, constitutional education is required for migrants, the direction and specific contents of constitutional education for migrants differ from citizens. This study classified the four functions of constitutional education for migrants. They are a feature of social integration, a protection feature for human rights of minorities, contributing to the development of society, a cultural diversity assurance function. In line with this, the direction and specific contents of the migrants’ constitutional education are ① the fundamental understanding of the national community, ② cultivation of human rights awareness of the minority, ③ understanding of political order and democracy of the national community, and ④ the understanding of cultural diversity.
