At present, the trend in the direction of the worldeconomy and industrial development is going withfocus on creative industry. The British economistJohn Howkins, in his book 'The Creative Economy'published in 2001, said that the future industrywould be dominated mainly by creative economy. Inthis light, we can easily figure out that creativeeconomy and creative industry will play a greatlyvital part in Korea's entrance into the line ofdeveloped countries. Such a creative industry mightbe feasible on the basis of ingenuity; here,'Ingenious' is closer to 'Applicative' rather than'Creative.' All the countries of the world are makingmuch effort to improve creativity of studentspredicting that creativity can be improved througheducation. Hereupon, people often express aningenious person as a convergence person in Korea. When it comes to mentioning a creative person inmodern times, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs ispointed out as the most representative figure, andSteve Jobs once said in his address in 1995 that'Creativity' is not a task of making something outof nothing but a task of 'bringing variousexperiences together.' Thinking of this comment asa clue, it might be safe to say that creativity ispremised on diverse experiences and knowledges. With the perception of its importance, the USAis implementing the STEM education platform, theconvergence education constructed in 2007, and inKorea, keeping pace with this trend, STEAMeducation program (Science, Technology,Engineering, Art, Mathematics) which is establishedby adding humanistic part to STEM is being carriedout. At present, the areas including Technology,Engineering and Arts are very insufficientqualitatively and quantitatively in STEAM platformwhich is being performed in Korea. Hereupon, thisstudy intends to present an "Engineering Design-based Convergence Education Model for HighSchool Students" with focus on these 3 areas and topresent its difference with diverse examplesinvestigated as well as its advancement direction. This study hopes this research work willcontribute to engineering design-based high schoolstudent's convergence education, secondaryconvergence education, and adult convergenceeducation which are to be implemented later.
