특허활성화 전략 기반 국제비교 연구 -삶의 질 향상과 창의성의 고부가가치 성과를 위하여-

(Background and Purpose) This research was conducted to ensure that the patent system ultimately improves, rather than diminishes, quality of life. This research emerged from a concern about the proliferation of patent trolls and patent aggregation companies, and involved the quantitative evaluation of current trends from a long-term perspective. (Method) Patent-related domestic and foreign studies, published until the end of August 2013, were compared by type of patent investigated, research topic, and major field of study. An exploratory research methodology involving a feedback process was implemented, and control theory and the goal-setting theory of Locke and Latham (2004) were applied. (Result) Countries with advanced patent systems that have a high quality of life are more focused on patent quality rather than patent quantity. Such a focus increases the proportion of intellectual capital composed of design rights and international trademarks. In light of the overall review of patent issues, this research proposes the establishment of positive motivators in the patent application process, to guide the future development of the patent system, and generally improve the quality of life of society.
