초록
Since the government declared "low-carbon green growth" as the core vision of thenational development plan on August 15, 2008, R&D investment in green technologyhas expanded rapidly. Private sectors based in South Korea have also recognized thepotentials and necessity of green technology and have been investing heavily in therelated areas such as electric vehicle, solar panel, and fuel cell industry. Further, theemphasis on green technology has promoted integrated research worldwide andcontributed to various areas including renewable energy, smart-grid, and nano solarcell. Reflecting this trend, there also have been multiple technology assessments andresearch and patent analysis on green technology to develop more cost-effective R&Dpolicies. The purpose of this research is to conduct citation analysis to assess various types ofgreen technology using patent indexes and to examine the cases of which patents ongreen technology were used to develop new products. Although based on variousresearch methodologies, the study contains a limitation as the scope of patent analysislargely focused on patents in the United States. In the future, it is recommended thatpatents from countries other than the U.S. be used to determine the relativecompetitiveness of South Korea and to develop new indexes that are better suited forcomparison among green technologies.
