수형자의 자기효능감과 대인관계에 관한 교류분석 프로그램의 효과 및 교정상담 적용 가능성 연구

This study investigated the effectiveness of a transactional analysis (TA)counseling program among prisoners. Fifteen prisoners were participated in the TAprogram with eight sessions(each one for 3 hours). Mixed method design thatcombined quantitative and qualitative methods was used for this study: Thepretest-posttest design was utilized to explore the changes of prisoners'self-efficacy and interpersonal skills. Also, nine participants randomly selectedwere interviewed for twenty minutes each to deeply investigate their innerdynamics and personal changes. The findings are as follows: The statistical difference found in both variables(at level .001) through comparison of results from the pre and post interventionindicates that the TA program was efficient in both variables. Also, the prisonersreported several positive changes, including becoming more optimistic towards theself and others and understanding more of others' point of view. Moreover, aninterviewee stated the program encouraged him to express himself to his familywhich he had never done in his entire life. This is the first empirical study toadopt a TA program for correctional education in South Korea. Given what thefindings show, a TA approach could be a prospective and effective interventionin the field of correctional education.
