우리나라 지식서비스 산업의 성장요인 분석
An Analysis on Growth Factors in the Korean Knowledge Service Industry: Use of I-O Structural Decomposition Analysis

본 연구는 투입산출구조분해분석(IO-SDA)을 통해 1995년부터 2009년의 기간을 대상으로 우리나라 지식서비스 산업의 성장요인을 분석한 것이다. 분석 결과 지식서비스 산업은 우리나라 경제성장에 20~30% 내외의 기여도를 보이고 있으며, 최근 들어 여타 산업에 비하여 가장 빠른 속도로 기여도가 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 성장요인을 최종수요, 수출, 최종재 수입대체, 중간재 수입대체, 기술변화의 다섯 가지 요인으로 구분하여 분석한 결과 지식서비스 산업의 성장은 최종수요 증대가 주도하였으며, 이어서 수출증대, 기술변화의 순으로 나타났으며, 최종재 및 중간재 수입대체는 지식서비스 산업의 성장에 마이너스의 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 지식서비스 산업을 구성하고 있는 대다수의 부문에서는 성장요인 중 최종수요 요인이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났으나, 예외적으로 수출 요인 또는 기술변화 요인이 가장 큰 부문도 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 사실은 향후 지식서비스 산업의 육성전략 수립 시 부문별 특성에 대한 고려가 필요함을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study is to investigate growth factors of the Korean knowledge service industry from 1995 to 2009 by using the I-O structural decomposition analysis. The results show that the knowledge service industry influences Korean economic growth with 20 to 30% of contribution and the level of contribution is increasing the faster than any other industry. We have classified growth factors into five factors, which are final domestic demand, export, import substitution for final goods, import substitution for intermediate goods, and technology change and have analyzed their contribution to the knowledge service industry. As a result, the growth of the knowledge service industry appears to be mostly derived from increase in final domestic demand, and subsequently followed by increase in export and technology change. On the other hand, import substitution for final and intermediate goods appears to hamper the industrial growth. The final domestic demand factor plays prominent part in the most sectors comprising the knowledge service industry, but exceptionally export and technology change factors play an important role in some sectors. This implies, when setting promotion strategy of the knowledge service industry, unique characteristics by each sector are to be considered.
