본 연구는 최근 학계와 연구계에서 많은 관심을 보이는 규모분포 특히 세계 지식규모분포에 대한 실증적 분석을 목적으로 수행되었다. 세계 지식규모분포가 로그정규분포인지 또는 파레토분포인지에 대한 명확한 실증분석결과는 기업성장전략뿐만 아니라 산업과학정책의 기획 및 수행 그리고 평가에도 제시하는 바가 크다. 본 연구는 2010년도 기준 세계 특허자료를 중심으로 창출지역과 활용지역에 대한 광범위한 국가단위자료를 바탕으로 지식규모분포가 로그정규분포인지 또는 파레토분포를 나타내는 지에 대한 실증분석을 실시하고, 그 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다. 실증분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 세계 지식규모분포는 지식창출분포와 지식활용분포가 모두 파레토분포를 나타냈다. 둘째, 파레토분포의 임계규모순위는 기존 다른 기존 규모분포와 달리 상위순위 50에서 70사이에서 결정되었다. 마지막으로 지식창출규모에 대한 파레토분포인자 가 지식활용규모를 결정하는 파레토분포인자보다 더 작게 나타났다. 이 실증분석결과를 바탕으로 간단한 과학 및 기술정책에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This paper is delivered to analyze empirically about scale distribution, specifically, global knowledge distribution fallen tremendous amount interests in school and research domain recently. Empirical research results that global knowledge distribution is log normal distribution or Pareto distribution provides significant implications and references as to establishing firm’s growth strategy, planning and implementing industry –science policy, and its evaluation. This research carries out empirical studies whether knowledge scale distribution is log normal distribution or Pareto distribution utilizing global patent data in separately sorting out release area and applying area at national level. Summaries of research are as follow. First, global knowledge scale distribution with knowledge generating distribution and knowledge utilizing distribution all shows Pareto distribution. Second, critical scale rank of Pareto distribution, unlike previous scale distribution, are determined from top 50 to 70. Last, Pareto distribution coefficient of knowledge generating scale, α, is smaller than that of knowledge utilizing coefficient. This research, based on empirical tests, suggests several implications for science and technology policies.
