코스닥시장 상장기업의 연구개발 활동이 특허취득과 경영성과에 미치는 영향

This study uses 292 out of top 1,000 venture companies on Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology’s(2010) R&D scoreboard published in 2009. It further chooses 162 venture companies that correspond with the purpose of this study to perform regression study on the effect R&D activity that has on patent acquisition and management achievement. The result of the study is as follows. First, the study found that among publicly traded companies on KOSDAQ, technologically advanced research and development companies that are more involved in R&D activity are more likely to acquire patents than technologically non-advanced research and development companies that are not. This indicates that R&D and technological innovation have the structure of mutually circulative causal relation that makes the probability of acquiring patents for research and development companies that have high-level technology higher than that for research and development companies that have low-level technology. Second, among publicly traded companies in KOSDAQ, technologically advanced research and development companies show better management achievement indicators such as profitability, productivity, etc. than technologically non-advanced research and development companies. This shows higher probability for technologically advanced companies that concentrate on R&D to realize positive management achievement because they are more likely to secure higher market share than technologically non-advanced companies.
