정보 및 지식의 주요 원천으로서의 인터넷의 폭발적 성장은 인간의 기억 활용방식에 영향을 미치고 있으며, 이로 인해 인터넷 환경 특히, 소셜미디어 환경에서의 트랜잭티브 메모리에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 트랜잭티브 메모리는 사람들간의 상호작용을 통해 형성되는 공유된 기억체계를 의미한다. 소셜미디어를 기반으로 사람들은 다양한 인적 네트워크를형성하게 되고 이를 통해 새로운 정보나 지식을 습득할 수 있는 기회가 증대됨에 따라 트랜잭티브 메모리는 소셜미디어환경에서 그 유용성이 더욱 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 트랜잭티브 메모리를 형성하고 활용하는 개인의 역량을 트랜잭티브 메모리 역량이라고 정의한다. 본 연구는 트랜잭티브 메모리 역량 형성에 영향을 주는 요인으로서 사회적 상호작용,사회적 실재감, 자기감시성, 핵심자기평가를 제시하였고, 트랜잭티브 메모리 역량이 테르티우스 융겐스 성향과 개인의 업무성과에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 본 연구모델을 검증하기 위해 직장인을 대상으로 데이터를 수집하였으며, 구조방정식모델을 통해 연구모델을 실증적으로 검증하였다. 연구결과 연구모델에 포함된 네 가지 선행요인은 개인의 트랜잭티브메모리 역량에 유의한 영향을 주었으며 트랜잭티브 메모리 역량은 테르티우스 융겐스 성향과 업무성과에 긍정적인 영향을주었다. 마지막으로 연구결과에 대한 토의와 함께 이론적 및 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The explosive growth of the internet as the main source of information and knowledge hasgreatly impacted the manner in which people make use of their memory. As a result, interest inthe internet environment, and in particular in the role of transactive memory in a social mediaenvironment, has been heightened. Transactive memory refers to a shared memory systemthrough which the necessary information and knowledge is obtained using an external repository. As such, it differs from the existing memory system in which necessary information and knowledgeis dependent on the individual’s incomplete memory structure. It revolves around comprehendingthe person who possesses the necessary information and knowledge rather than rememberingthe knowledge and information itself. The majority of existing studies have been focused onproving the usefulness of transactive memory based on research at the organizational level. However, the marked increase in the influence of social media has heightened the need forresearch on individual transactive memory. Factors such as the emergence of various socialnetwork services, diffusion of smart phones, and the popularization of mobile internet haveresulted in the ripple effects caused by social media becoming increasingly large. The use ofsocial media has created various benefits, such as knowledge sharing activities amongst theparticipants, formation of human networks, communication with various people, and thematerialization of online interest groups. The emergence of social media has made it possiblefor its users to form various human networks. Social media has positioned itself as a new typeof communication method. While customers have used social media as a tool to promptly acquire new information, businesses have established differentiated marketing strategies based onsocial media. The diffusion and use of social media have increased the opportunities for users toacquire and use such information. Users of social media employ their own transactive memoryto access the various information available on social media. They can promptly access qualitativeinformation by using their transactive memory and appropriately filter the useful informationfrom the information overload. However, not all people boast the same transactive memory atthe individual level; rather, such memory is differently formed depending on factors such associal environment and individual characteristics. Individual differences can emerge dependingon the degree of interaction with other people, capability to collect and use information, andthe will to use such information. As such, the formation and ability to use the transactivememory that differs between individuals are defined as the transactive memory capability. Thisstudy introduced social interaction, social presence, self-monitoring, and core self-evaluationas the factors impacting the formation of transactive memory capacity. The impact of transactivememory capability on the tertius iungens orientation and individual job performance were alsoverified. The research model was empirically verified using a structural equation model. Thestudy revealed that the four antecedent factors included in the research model significantlyimpacted individuals’ transactive memory capability, and that the transactive memory capabilitypositively influenced the tertius iungens orientation and job performance. Lastly, the results ofthe study were discussed, and the theoretical and practical implications were introduced.
