초록
본 연구는 인플레이션과 한국경제의 주요 변수들(경제성장률, 실질임금, 노동생산성)과의 관계를 백터오차수정모형(VECM)에 기초하여 장·단기적 측면에서 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 회귀분석(OLS)과 함께 시계열 자료인 주요 변수들의 안정성 검정을 위하여 단위근 검정과 공적분 검정을 실시하였다. 또한 인플레이션의 변동성이 성장률, 실질임금, 노동생산성 변수들에 미치는 동태적 영향을 보기 위해 충격반응함수의 분석을 실시하였다. OLS분석결과 인플레이션과 생산성은 경제성장에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 네 변수 모두 장기적으로 안정적인 공적분 관계에 있는 것으로 나타났으며 인과관계 검정에서는 인플레이션이 여타 변수에 대하여 단기와 장기 모두 양방향적인 인과관계가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 충격반응함수 분석에서는 인플레이션의 충격에 대하여 성장률, 실질임금, 노동생산성 모두 장·단기 적으로 영향을 받으며 특히 실질임금 부문에 더 큰 영향을 받으면서 장기간에 걸쳐 안정적인 추세로 수렴되었다. 또한 실질임금의 충격이 생산성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며 그 결과 비록 충격은 적으나 실질임금의 증가가 장·단기 모두 생산성 증가에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study investigates the relationships between inflation and major economic variables such as economic growth, real wages, and labor productivity in Korea using Vector Error Correction Model(VECM). First of all, we applied OLS estimation. Next, in order to test whether the time series data from the major economic variables are stationary or not, we adopted the unit root test and cointegration test. The impulse response functions were applied to estimate the dynamic effects in the short-run and in the long-run. The results show that the inflation and productivity positively influenced the economic growth. That is, the four variables, i. e., inflation, economic growth, real wages, and labor productivity, were strongly integrated with one another. In the Granger causality tests, the interrelationship between the inflation and the other three variables existed in the both long-run and short-run. The findings from the application of the impulse response functions indicate that the impacts of the inflation on the other three variables also existed, and the significant aspects of the fluctuations in the three economic variables were caused by the inflation. Therefore, a price stabilization should be taken into account as an important factor for the stable economic growth in Korea by promoting labor productivity.
