An Analysis of Test method and Measurement Apparatus for the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient Evaluation Method of Fenestration System

Recently, the consumption of not only the winter heating energy but also summer cooling energy is rapidly increasing in public,commercial-residential buildings. It is undoubted that solar heat gain through window is one of major contributors to the cooling loadin building. So, the various SHGC test methods developed and environmental conditions employed for cooling energy saving in buildingare very diverse. In this study, domestic and foreign SHGC test apparatus and test method were reviewed and analyzed. The standardsof the test and calculation for SHGC were also examined and environmental conditions were compared. As seen from literature, thevarious test methods adopted and environmental conditions employed are very diverse. This is due to absence of a well-developed andinternational standardized test method for SHGC measurement. As such, an attempt was made to develop and indoor SHGC measurementapparatus that os capable of controlling the various parameters and remove the effects of different environmental conditions which canresult in accurate SHGC measurement.
