판소리에서의 리듬적 동조 현상 연구: Clayton의 시계식 분석법의 적용

The term ‘entrainment’ refers to the process by which independent rhythmical systems interact with each other and assume the same or related periods. Clayton et al.(2005) discussed further applications of this idea in ethnomusicology and explored unintentional entrainment in a performance of Indian classical music(2007). Clayton developed the chronometric analysis method to identify and analyse musical entrainment processes, based on changing audio timing data. This study attempts to apply his method to Korean traditional music and to examine it’s possibilities and limitations. The example for this case study was taken from audio recording of an excerpt of Pansori <Simchungga>. The performance includes two players with a singer and a Puk player. The results indicate (a) the occurrence of entrainment of two players, (b) the dynamic process of becoming entrainment, (c) the implication for the Korean traditional music analysis.
