회계정보 공시를 통한 사립대학 경영지표 변화분석

The present study investigates how private universities can enhance the quality of education securing financial stability and expansion to survive in this rapidly changing environment; promote consumer trust in the education of private universities; improve financial management of university budget and increase student recruitment through governmental grants and monetary donation from other sectors. Accordingly, conducting empirical analysis on a research hypothesis, this study compares official university information publicly posted by private universities and suggests ways for private universities to cope with management crisis and to promote the growth and competitiveness of private universities, pursuing external growth with the aim of strengthening university autonomy through self－rescue efforts, including plans for a university specialization rather than mere external growth. In conclusion, the findings of this study are as follows: A comparison of financial soundness indicators shows that financial soundness got somewhat deteriorated, but governmental grants and donation increased; educational conditions and student recruitment rate, a token of consumer trust in the university education, both improved in the universities in and around capital regions and in the universities with more than 5,000 students enrolled; A positive impact on the quality of university education was also shown. It is expected that the findings of this study will be used as base data for policy makers of restructuring universities to make their decisions considering different characteristics of universities and for universities to utilize the findings when making their management strategies.
