The changes in the corporate environment istransforming and expanding the design concept andin recent years, it is demanding a rapid change inthe subject and methods of design fields. Enterprises are strategically organizing themselvesfocusing on the design such as expanding theinvestment on the design management andstrengthening of research base, etc. Therefore, thedirection of the design role for corporate image alsorequires strategic and differentiated approach ratherthan a temporary and fragmentary approach. This study aims to understand the phenomenonof convergence appearing in the design field and forthe method, it was oriented towards the literaturestudy supplemented with relevant case studies. Since the 1990s, the cases of convergence appearingin the design field according to the changes in theenvironment are largely seen as 'the spread ofdesign management' and 'the increase of corporatesocial role.'In the design management, it is proposing thatthe design should not be used simply as means ofpromoting the sales of the product butunderstanding the future values and vision in orderto lead the changes by actively responding to theenvironment using the knowledge and insights inrelated fields. A strategic direction of the designcan also be seen in the study related to the designrole by Mozota(2008) who has defined the status ofdesign in the organizational and strategic level. Inaddition, changes of future society and industry arerequiring a fundamental role change of the designin the implementation of the corporate value. Thisis showing that the corporate social role consideringthe public interest and environment while havinginterest in the rights of minorities and theunderprivileged is an important directivity of theenterprises. As such, the increase in the corporatesocial role and the design management is showingan important integrated and convergence point ofview in the design for the corporate image as wellas the development of digital technology. As such, this study is seeking the expansion ofnew value creation and role of the future designaccording to the recent environmental changes bydividing it into two areas called 'the spread ofdesign management' and 'the increase of corporatesocial role.' while looking for the direction of thedesign role in the convergence point of view.
