The Consumer is the main engine of the economy; the production is carried out for him/her and sales are also directed to him/her. So the term consumer is considered a new term to legislators, as it was originally in the interest of Economists. Therefore, this concept of the consumer was not a matter of legal jurisprudence until the second half of the 20th century. There was no legal agreement or consensus for the definition of the consumer, So in order to reach a specific definition with regards to E-Commerce Contracts, first state the traditional definition of the consumer and what this term consists of then move on to the concept of E-Commerce, This study will explain the consumer’s concept on legislative and judicial level in the Egyptian and French Law, as well as the European Directives, and also how far the concept of E-Commerce influences the definition of the Consumer, In particular, comparisons are made in the Egyptian and French legislations as well as a number of European directives and legislations, with an analysis on various legal provisions contained in Egyptian, French and other European directives. Attention will also be paid to Arab laws and articles which serve to regulate electronic transactions.
