Fashion Cultural Products Design Focusing on Hansan Ramie I

This study aims to emphasize the uniqueness and distinction of Hansan ramie, one of Korea’s most representative materials, bydeveloping fashion cultural products with a focus on decorative screens used to divide and beautify interior spaces, while contributing to theadvancement, globalization and branding of Hansan ramie by increasing its commercial value. The results of the study can be summarizedas follows. First, jokakbo, reflecting plastic arts, was used to express planes of various sizes, including straight lines, diagonal lines, verticallines and horizontal lines, and a balance was maintained through the appropriate arrangement of point colors and various pastel colors. Ribbons and knotted buttons were fixed at the center to express composure and elegance. Second, painted images of lotus flowers and boymonks with comical and cheerful expressions, often found in folk paintings, were added. Ramie pinching needlework was also applied toexpress the subtleness and placidity of lotus flower leaves. Third, plant patterns were used, and natural images featuring bunches of grapes,red flowers and peaches hanging from stalks along with leaves were painted to express a freshness based on blinded top stitching, whichwas applied to each and every seam line of a piece. Fourth, ramie fabric folding that emphasized the characteristics of ramie fiber, ramiefabric pinching needlework and bat buttons were used for the sake of rhythm, decoration, attractiveness and congeniality. Fashion culturalproducts that include high-quality material such as Hansan ramie are expected to enhance consumer satisfaction, improve the status ofnational brands and contribute to maximizing regional profits through the development of value added products with diverse designs.
