신제품 성과에 미치는 정부지원의 영향에 관한 실증연구: 흡수역량의 효과

초록
중소기업의 신제품 성과는 생존과 연결되어질 수 있기 때문에 자원 및 자본의 열세에 처해있는 중소기업에게 매우 중요하다. 신제품 성과가 향상되기 위해서 중소기업의 자구적인 노력 외에도, 기업 외부의 원천으로 정부의 지원이 지속되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 대구경북지역에 위치한 중소기업들을 대상으로 정부지원이 신제품 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하고, 나아가 이들의 관계에서 기업의 흡수역량의 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 실증분석의 결과는 중소기업에 대한 정부지원(기술지원, 인력지원, 생산지원)이 중소기업의 신제품 성과에 미치는 유의적인 영향은 발견되지 않았다. 그러나 중소기업의 흡수역량과 기술지원의 상호작용항은 신제품 성과에 유의적으로 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 중소기업의 경우에 개별적인 정부지원만으로는 신제품 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지 못하지만 흡수역량과 연계될 때 가능하다는 것을 시사하고 있다. 즉, 중소기업의 흡수역량이 높을수록 정부의 기술지원은 신제품 비중을 향상시켜 경쟁력 강화에 긍정적인 요소로써 작용할 수 있음을 의미하고 있다. 이러한 영향은 흡수역량, 기술지원, 산학연 네트워크의 상호작용항을 포함한 연구결과에서도 동일하게 나타났다.
Abstract
Because new product performance of small and medium sized firms is related to their survival, new product performance is very important to them. Besides endeavor of small and medium sized firms themselves, Korean government has made support for new product performance of small and medium sized firms. Using 163 small and midium sized firms located in Daegu and Gyeungbuk regions, this study investigated the effect of government support on new product performance and the effect of absorptive capability on the relationship between government support and new product performance. This study found there is insignificant effect of any individual government support on new product performance. However, the moderating effect of absorptive capability on the relationship between technology support and new product performance is reported to be positive. This implies technology support positively affects new product performance if absorptive capability of small and medium sized firms is high.
