미국 사회과에서 헌법의 교육적 의미 -교과서 분석을 중심으로-

The purpose of this study is to find educational meanings of the constitution for social studies education in United States and to identify implications of giving to social studies education in Korea. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, I started analyzing contents of social studies textbooks in the United States. Finally, I found useful characteristics and directions for good constitutional education in Korea. The major results from this study are as follows. First, social studies students learn social functions from the constitution. Second, social studies students learn characteristics of the pluralistic society from constitution. Third, social studies students learn basic concepts and principles of democracy from the constitution. Fourth, social studies students develope diverse learning skills from the constitution. Fifth, social studies students learn efficiently through the constitution. Accordingly, implications of giving to social studies education in Korea are as follows. First, the constitution should be reviewed as resources of social studies education. Second, the constitution should be a tool for intervening between contents and methods of social studies education. Third, the constitution should be approached systematically by content elements of social studies education. Fourth, the constitution should be developed into learning materials for social studies classrooms.
