The influences of the foreign invested companies after the IMF economic crisis in korea is going to increase. And it’s impact on the industrial relations was also debated importantly. But the boundary of the debates was constrained to the role of the trade unions as a cause of the industrial conflicts in the foreign invested companies in Korea. But we want to expand the debates to the role of the employer. The characteristics and the nationality of the foreign invested companies could be the main cause of the industrial conflicts. As a main characteristics of the foreign invested companies in Korea in relation the industrial relations, management strategy is very important. In case of the foreign invested companies in the unionized manufacturing sector in Korea, it is excluded from the main production value chain of the foreign multinational corporations and has a high dependency on the production value chain of the inland multinational corporations. The foreign invested companies in Korea tend to give a high autonomy to the native executives in Korea and mainly pay attention to the financial outcomes of the companies. Therefore the response of the trade unions in the foreign invested companies should consider not only the production value chain of the foreign multinational corporations, but also the inland multinational that have contract relations with those.
