디자인 씽킹과 린스타트업을 통합한 디자이너를 위한 스타트업 교육 개발 - 한국디자인진흥원 “우수디자인 아이디어 글로벌 창업지원”사례 -

초록
창조경제 시대에서 디자인 환경이 많이 변화 되고 있다. 심미적이고 기능적인 디자인에서 새로운 가치 확대와 스타트업에 대한 기대가 높아지고 있다. 최근 미국에서는 디자이너의 스타트업 진출이 활발하다. 대표적인 숙박 공유앱 에어비앤비(Airbnb)의 창업자들은 로드아일랜드 디자인스쿨의 디자이너 출신 창업가다. 2013년 국내 디자인 관련 학과 졸업생의 취업률은 51.7%있으나, 이 취업률은 2010년에서 2013년 사이 22,905명의 프리랜서 디자이너의 증가로 인한 것이다. 본 연구는 미취업자 및 프리랜서 준비자에게 사전에 스타트업에 대한 준비와 성공적인 창업을 유도하기 위한 체계적인 스타트업 교육 프로그램개발에 목적이 있다. 선진 디자인 대학사례와 국내 창업교육에 대한 질적 조사와 한국디자인진흥원 주관 “우수디자인 아이디어 글로벌 창업지원”에 프로그램에 도입, 참여자를 대상으로 양적조사를 수행했다. 디자이너 스타트업 교육 프로그램은 디자인 씽킹 개념의 실행 방법인 디자인 씽킹의 10가지 도구와 린스타트업 방식의 린캔버스 및 고객개발 도구를 결합하여, 스타트업 에센스, Biz 모델, 고객개발, 특허 및 펀딩, 출시 준비 등의 5가지 모듈과 17가지 세부 교육 안으로 구성된 통합적 스타트업 교육프로그램을 도출하였다. 도출된 프로그램에 참여하여 교육, 실습, 멘토링을 받은 참여자들에게 설문조사과 에필로그를 통해 교육 내용 및 교육 방법에 대해 만족스러운 평가를 얻게 되었고, 디자이너의 성공창업을 위한 좋은 교육프로그램 될 이것으로 기대된다. 디자인씽킹과 린스타트업과의 유기적인 교육프로그램이 타 분야에서도 유용할 것으로 기대되며, 특히 IOT(Internet of Things)시대 상황에서 IT와 산업디자인의 융합에도 잘 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
Designer environment has changed in the creative economy. The design demand has also changed form aesthetical and functional to new design value and startup business. In USA, designers tend to open new startups. Co-founder of Airbnb is designer graduated RISD. In Korea, employment rate for design majors is 51.7% in 2013. The number of freelance designers was increased dramatically about 22,905 freelancers from 2010 to 2013. The purpose of this paper is to develop startup education program for unemployment designers as well as potential freelancers to lead successful startups. Qualitative research of advanced leading design universities in the world and korean startup education program have been studied. In addition, Qualitative research by questionnaire and epilogue or design teams who attended "Global Startup Support of Excellent Designers’ Idea” by Korea Institute of Design Promotion have been studied. The startup education program was designed 5 modules of startup essence, biz model, customer development, funding & intellectual property and launching with 17 programs combined 10 tools of design thinking in design field with lean canvas and customer development of lean startup. The designers who have had training, exercising and mentoring were satisfied and operate their business successfully. This program combined design thinking with lean startup will be used for other academic field and exceptionally will be needed for industrial designer under IOT(Internet of things) area.
