The Influence of Philanthropic Education before adulthood and Religiosity on Intention to Volunteer: Focused on Mediating Effects of Social Responsitbility

본 연구의 목적은 기독교인의 성장기 나눔교육 경험과 종교성이 사회봉사 참여의도에 미치는영향과 이러한 과정에서 사회적책임성의 매개효과를 규명하는 데 있다. 본 연구를 위해 2009년서울⋅경기지역 개신교 교회에 소속되어 있는 교인들을 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 최종적으로1,059명의 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 성장기에 받은 나눔교육 경험은 성인기 사회봉사 참여의도에 정적(+)으로 유의한 영향을 미치지만 사회적책임성을 매개하여 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로나타났다. 반면, 종교성은 사회봉사 참여의도에 직접적으로 유의한 영향이 없으나 사회적책임성을매개하여 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 특히 기독교인의 자원봉사 참여기제를구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 실증연구하였으며 자원봉사 참여에 대한 규범주의 이론, 사회실천 이론 및 사회학습 이론을 검증했다는 데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 종교를 갖는 시민의 자원봉사 참여 활성화에 대한 실천적 방안 및 추후 연구과제에 대하여 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of philanthropic education before adulthood and religiosity on intention to volunteer and mediating effects of social responsibility on this relation. Research data was collected from 1,059 Christians affiliated to Protestant churches in Seoul-Kyunggi province. This study adopted structural equation modeling. The result indicated that philanthropic education had direct effect on intention to volunteer, but there were no indirect effect mediated by social responsibility. On the other hand, religiosity had no direct effect on intention to volunteer but it had indirect effect mediated by social responsibility. Though philanthropic education before adulthood and religiosity both had the significant effect on intention to volunteer, the pathways were different. Based on these results, the implication of this study and future research tasks were discussed.
