골프와 스크린 골프, 대체관계인가? 보완관계인가? 선택실험법 접근

컴퓨터 영상과 센서 기술의 눈부신 발전 덕택에 스크린 골프는 최근 몇 년 사이에 가장 인기있는 여가활동 가운데 하나로 발돋움했다. 첨단 기술과 레크리에이션을 성공적으로 융합시킨 스크린 골프는 본질적으로 골프활동이근간을 이루는 여가활동임에도 불구하고 지금까지 진행됐던 관련 연구들은 두 여가활동의 관계에 대해서는 별다른관심을 기울이지 않았던 게 사실이다. 특히 선행연구들은 골프활동의 다양한 제약들이 스크린 골프 참여와 선호 형성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 간과했다. 이에 본 연구는 대체재와 보완재라는 경제학 개념을 접목해 스크린 골프와 골프활동의 상호관계를 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. 아울러 요사이 가장 각광받고 있는 경제가치 분석 기법인 선택실험법을 적용한 본 연구는 스크린 골프장을 구성하는 여러 속성들 가운데 국내 골퍼들이 어떠한 속성을 중요하게 여기는지를 파악했다. 확률 모수 로짓(PRL) 모형 추정에 이은 한계 지불의사금액(MWTP) 계산 결과에 따르면, 본 연구의 응답자들은 스크린 골프를 골프활동의 보완재로 여기고 있었다. 즉, 골프활동 제약지각이 낮았던 골퍼들이 높은 제약지각 골퍼들보다 스크린 골프장 이용과 여러 속성에 더 높은 가치를 부여했으며, 실제 이용횟수도 잦은 것으로 분석됐다. 한편 본 연구의 응답자들은 스크린 골프장을 선택하는 과정에서 스크린의 형태를 가장 중요한속성으로 간주했다. 또한 여유로운 주차공간과 스크린 골프장내 연습타석 및 휴게공간 설치 여부 등이 스크린 형태에 이어 중요한 선택 기준인 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구는 분석 결과를 토대로 효율적인 스크린 골프장 운영을 위한구체적 전략을 제시했다.
Abstract
With the revolutionary progress in information communication technologies, screen golf has become one of the most popular leisure activities in Korea. While screen golf has developed based on different aspects of outdoor golf, there is limited information about the inherent relationships between those two leisure activities. In particular, less attention has been paid to examining how diverse golfing constraints affect individuals' preferences for the virtual reality game. Accordingly, this study aims to provide an improved understanding of how screen golf is associated with outdoor golf employing the two economic concepts of substitutive and complementary goods. Using a choice experimental approach, this study also intends to investigate which attributes comprising screen golf cafe are considered important by recreational golfers and how they show intricate trade-offs among those attributes when choosing an optimal screen golf cafe. Study results suggest that respondents for this study regard screen golf as a complementary good rather than a substitutive good. This is because respondents with high degree of golfing constraints reveal greater willingness to pay for using a screen golf cafe. The marginal willingness-to-pay (MWTP) calculation results also indicate that recreational golfers place highest importance on the types of screens and the availability of sufficient parking spaces. Based on several findings, this study proposes useful management strategies for screen golf cafes.
