With his distinctive style and his flair for deducing clues, Holmes, with his ever-reliable sidekick, Dr. Watson, quickly became indispensable to mystery readers everywhere. After the Golden Age writers like Agatha Christie entertained more fans for crime and investigation, mystery thriller and profiling-related stories on movies and television have proved to be an endless source of diversion and delight forthe people who are scared for the cruel criminals instinctively. This trend has been followed by new and interesting movies like “Silence of the Lambs” and “Bone Collectors.” Since the expansion of the multimedia, TV and Internet have provided colorful characters over the years and into the present. And its style coincided perfectly with the advent of movies and television dramas. The popular TV drama “Colombo” followed Holms’ profiling format perfectly, and was followed later by shows such as “Monk.” The continued popularity of such series as “CSI” and “Criminal Mind,” attest to the fact that from mystery to profiling remains a beloved genre for readers of all ages. But currently the popular criminal profiling stories is appealing to juvenile or children. As they have too much interest in criminal profiling and investigation field, they are likely to become against the society, and have feeling like imitating adults’ experienced world. And the potential criminals are apt to learn the crime skill by heart, it may lead to a copy cat crime. So it is necessary for the concerned organizations to make and consult the proper legal policy. Criminal profiling and investigation in all its forms will undoubtedly continue to capture the public’s imagination, regardless of the medium, well into the future. Our prospect for safety and well-being in our own life depends on not only the creation of new investigative methods but our government’s efficient policy and legal measure. Actually, yellow journalism or the yellow press, using eye-catching headlines and including exaggerations to sell more journals and tickets. may treat our safe society and may result in copy cat crimes. In addition, when it leads to populism, the impact and actual effectiveness on public can get some false opinion, instead of the proper judgement in juvenile readers and viewers. It is the most important factor for the public interest, government policy, and the proper education to review the vision in the criminal profiling field on media which get popular more and more. And the gorgeous profilers and investigators on screen can make us feel safer from crimes in our society.
