초록

Kaimori, Tokiko. 2015. 12. 31. The reinterpretation of Korean Loanword Orthography through Optimality Theory :Focusing on the syllable-final nasal of Japanese. Bilingual Research 61, 271-290. The corresponding Japanese ‘Kana’ list under the Korean loanword orthography is used for Korean language education as a foreign language in Japan. The purpose of this study is to focus on the various problems caused when writing Japanese words in Korean using the corresponding Kana list and establishing an improvement plan in order to minimize the problems. As a preliminary, taking notice of the syllable-final stop <ㅅ(siot)>, the Korean Loanword Orthography was analyzed through Optimality Theory. As a result, in the current orthography, it was confirmed that Clause 3 comes first than Clause 2 under Article1 which is the Notation Principle. Also the fact that the maintenance of phonological features of the original input is significant has been concluded. Furthermore, writing Japanese words in Korean was analyzed in such matter presented as above. As for the target of this study, the syllable-final nasal has been selected. After examining the results, writing Japanese words in Korean under Loanword Orthography demonstrates a different order of priority from above. With the analysis through the OT, being consistent with the Loanword Orthography principle and minimizing the gap between the input caused by phonological phenomena at the same time, <ㅇ(ieung)> was proposed as an alternative for the Japanese /N/. Abstract
