『은파산고』(恩坡散稿)의 성립과 심노숭(沈魯崇)

The establishment of Eunpasango(恩坡散稿) and Sim No-sung(沈魯崇)

김수진(서울대학교)

72호, 131~163쪽

초록

Eunpasango(恩坡散稿) is an anthology of manuscript copies of the works of Sim Nak-su(沈樂洙, 1739~1799). It is held by the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies and the C.V. Starr East Asian Library of UC Berkeley. Thus far, Sim Nak-su has been known more as a politician than as a man of letters. This study explores the reasons why Sim Nak-su’s literary works deserve academic attention by attempting to conduct a comprehensive bibliographic analysis of Eunpasango. This study adopted two methodological approaches. First, it took a ‘positivist approach relying on primary sources.’ The study compared the four versions of extant Eunpasango manuscripts to determine the relationship between each manuscript copies. The study also compared the draft copy with each of the subsequent revised versions of the manuscript, and reconstructed the process of revision. Secondly, this study tried to conduct the bibliographic analysis with a view to literary/historical contexts. As a result, this study found how Sim No-sung(沈魯崇, 1762~1837) was dedicated to the restoration of the literary legacy of his father, Sim Nak-su, and how the publication of Eunpasango had been the focus of Sim No-sung’s efforts throughout his life. This study is a step toward illuminating the internal origin of Sim No-sung’s literature. Further research on the literary works of Sim Nak-su needs to be conducted, especially by placing the literature Sim Nak-su and Sim No-sung within the framework of ‘inter-generational diachronic comparison.’
