대학생 핵심역량진단평가(K-CESA) 중복응시자의 인식과 교육경험 - A대학 사례를 중심으로

역량은 대학의 교육성과를 확인할 수 있는 지표 중 하나이다. 대학에서 성실하게 생활한 학생들은 학년이 높아지면서 역량도 지속적으로 증가할 것이라 예상되지만, 한국직업능력개발원에서 개발한 대학생핵심역량진단평가(이하 K-CESA)에 두 차례 이상 응시한 학생들의 역량점수를 살펴보면 중복응시자의 역량이 일관되지 않게 변하는 경우가 많았다. 이에 본 연구에서는 K-CESA 전 영역에 두 차례이상 응시한 학생 여섯 명을 대상으로 K-CESA 응시이유, 진단과정, 결과인식, 대학에서의 교과 및 비교과 교육경험 등을 인터뷰하여 중복응시자의 점수가 일관되게 변화하지 않는 이유에 접근해보고자 하였다. 학생들이 K-CESA에 중복 응시한 가장 큰 이유는 역량변화 정도를 점검하기 위한 것이었다. 그러나 과제 등 더 급한 일이 생기거나, 문제가 지난번과 동일한 것을 알았을 때 진단에 불성실하게 참여하는 경우가 많았다. 또한, 학생들은 진단결과를 어떻게 활용해야 하며, 부족한 역량을 보완하기 위해 무엇을 해야 하는지 잘 알지 못하였다. 상대적으로 역량이 높은 우수집단은 교내외 활동에 적극적이고 학년이 높으며 회사나 군대 등 조직경험이 있는 편이었으며, 역량이 낮은 미흡집단은 신입생 때 대학적응에 어려움을 겪었거나 시간 관리에 미숙하고 대인관계나 비교과 활동에 소극적인 경향을 보였다. 논의부분에서 효과적인 역량진단과 결과활용방안, 후속연구 등을 제언하였다.
Abstract
The Korea Collegiate Essential Skills Assessment (K-CESA), funded by KRIVET, is the eminent tool to assess the collegiate competencies. This research is concerned with the process of how examinees take the K-CESA and particularly focuses on the examinees’ perspectives of the K-CESA. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted on six ‘A’ university students among forty-seven examinees who repeatedly took the K-CESA. Interview questions were about collegiate experience and the K-CESA such as motivation for, time, and place of taking the K-CESA, the perception and application of the results, and the relevance between college life and the K-CESA. The responses were coded with Nvivo 10.0. This study found that the students were concerned about their competencies, and those actively participating in collegiate experiences got higher scores on the K-CESA. The examinees’ experience, such as working in a company and serving in the army, had a significant effect on the test scores. Finally, this paper discusses several suggestions on how to motivate students to engage proactively in college life, how to provide elaborate feedback based on sub-competencies, and how universities collaborate with the K-CESA provider to develop a support program.
