국내 ·외 프랜차이즈 연구 동향에 관한 탐색적 연구: 2006년∼2014년 학술지 게재논문을 중심으로
Exploratory study into the trends of franchise researches in South Korea and other countries : focused on the academic journal articles between 2006 and 2014

This study is aimed to analyze the trends of franchise researches in the hospitality industry in South Korea and other countries. To do that, 24 articles were sampled from such journals as Tourism Sciences Society of Korea journal and Korea Academic Society of Tourism Management (tourism research) journal in South Korea; and 18 articles were from those including International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and Journal of Service Marketing in other countries; and, in total, 42 journals were analyzed. The articles were selected by the present researcher using purposive sampling technique. As a result, the analysis found that operation & management (38.1%) and financial & accounting (26.2%) accounted for a high portion (38.1%) in research topics and that restaurants (66.7%) and hotels (21.4%) took a high portion in the industries researched. What was most frequently employed as research methodology was a quantitative research (81.0%), what was most frequently cited for a research object was franchisor (35.7%), and what was most frequently employed as a sampling technique was convenience sampling. What may be required for future researches is a challenging research attitude which goes beyond the existing standardized research topics, research methodology, and research objects.
